Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!
Today was a long day for me, but it went very well because it was Easter!
Easter indicates the resurrection of Jesus, so the church service was very awesome in a different way and songs were also great. I don’t know how some of you would think of me talking about my religion in this public page, but I am not shamed of it at all. Today is the best day of the year for me as a Christian. The best news of Easter is that Jesus has risen from death. His death was very cruel and sad but since he has risen, Easter should remain the best day.
After church, I had lunch at home and afterwards, I headed to the library of ?Cal Poly Pomona with my housemate to study. I can’t believe that spring break is almost over. Why does time go so fast when I am enjoying my life? .. haha anyway he and I studied till about 8. While I was studying, I kept checking the Lakers game and because we were losing I couldn’t concentrate well enough. So I hurried back home and when I turned on the TV, they were playing the fourth quarter and losing. I was wishing that the Lakers would get two more points and tie. Well but we lost. They seemed so depressed that I was also depressed.
Easter service at church made my day but then the Lakers kind of messed it up. Haha Hopefully they get to win next game. I am sure they will!

After all, tomorrow is another day, Brianna

It is so hard to believe that it is already the end of April. I have been doing so much homework and paperwork. I got all my paperwork from Azusa Pacific University and have to fill it all out and turn it in tomorrow morning. I have been sitting here doing paperwork and homework for the last 5 hours. I know this is supposed to be a day to celebrate, however, I have responsibilities that must be taken care of and getting everything done to transfer is so stressful and time consuming. I still have a lot of very difficult decisions to make within the next couple of days. I do not know if I want to live in campus housing or if I want to live at home or commute. I only live about 10 minutes away from campus and the pool site that I will be practicing in during the water polo season. I think that I will live at home during the fall semester and save some money because I will still be attending Fullerton College during the fall and taking classes. I am going to try and take as many classes as I can at Fullerton and see how much money I will be able to save because of it. I know I will for sure live on campus in the spring but I cannot seem to make a decision about the fall. Maybe after I turn in my paperwork at Azusa tomorrow I will know. Any suggestions? Crunch time continues. Two more pages to write and then I am off to bed for a full day of class tomorrow. Wish me luck, I am sure going to need it.

Easter Sunday!

Today was such a great day. I had the day off from work and I received holiday pay for not even having to work. That is the best part about it. So many different things have happened today. I woke up this morning to dyeing Easter eggs with all my nieces and nephews. I have 12 nieces and nephews and all of them but one were here today. It was so hectic this morning having to organize the egg dyeing with all the kids. I had 9 of them in the backyard with me coloring Easter eggs. It was so much fun and all of the kids had such a great time. It is days like this that I know my nieces and nephews will remember for the rest of their lives. And that is a reward all on its own.

I was so upset this past couple of weeks because I have missed my old house more than anything in the world and the only thing I wanted was to wake up this morning in my old room and ready to hide Easter eggs in the backyard I've known my entire life. But somehow seeing my nieces and nephews this morning made everything ok. I know now that home is where your family is and where you make it. I am still trying to come to terms with that but each day it is getting easier and easier. I am just glad that I have my family here especially today on Easter. It really meant a lot to see them run and play today.

Well, Until my fingers meet the keys, Amber

Research Paper

I'm so excited spring break is finally here. It feels weird to have it so late in the semester though. Once the break is over I only have three weeks of school left. Which is awesome! I hope all of you have some fun planned and get to enjoy the beautiful spring weather we've been having. Although it is spring break there is tons of things I need to work on. I'm writing a research paper on the effects of reality tv. I picked this topic thinking it might be easy. Instead it turns out to be a very difficult topic because there haven't been many studies to find the effects. But regardless of the lack of evidence it's been really fun reading what other people think of reality shows. Personally I watch them but I don't get too involved. I think it's funny how these shows try to capture "real life". I don't know about you but I don't go around screaming and yelling at my friends nor do I become violent either. The maturity level on these shows, as we all know, is that of a 13-year-old. Through my research I have noticed a growing concern regarding the effects it will have society. As with most things if you take too much the end result is never a good one. Everything in moderation is the best way to go. But with reality tv taking over the airwaves it then becomes difficult to escape. Some fear that the perceptions of people will change to believe that what happens on these shows IS real life. It's similar to watching the news...the more you watch the less you become informed and more afraid of the world. Studies show those who watch too much news say the world is a horrible place because of what they see. And in turn become more paranoid and scared of the outside world. Same goes for watching too many horror movies. I LOVE horror movies but there are times when I'm closing the frig door or look up in the mirror from washing my face and half except someone to be standing there. It's silly I know but my mind has been conditioned to believe someone WILL be there. I believe reality tv will have a negative effect on our society. The messages they send and portray are never a positive one. Therefore the end result could never be positive. Although this class [mass media survey] isn't teaching me anything I already didn't know, I mean I am a child of the this era, it's interesting to study the effects and relate them to my own life. Afterall I am not excluded from this research, I'm as much part it as the people I am studying. Do any of you think reality tv is harmful? I would love to know what you think... Stay Classy FC! Spring break

Officially, spring break will start tomorrow, but since we had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off, it seems like we have a full week and three more extra days. What have you done over the weekend? This weekend went pretty well for me. On Friday, after I woke up around 10 am, I headed to the library. I know it sounds so nerdy. Haha It is because I didn’t feel like my spring break had started and I just wanted to finish my usual work for history class, as I do every Friday. I slept as much as I could on Thursday though, and thanks to it, I concentrated on studying for a fairly long time. After I went back home, I took a long nap and went to my Friday bible study as usual. I had so much fun seeing friends and meeting new friends. On Saturday, I also overslept and woke up way later than I usually do. Then, I started watching all the Korean TV shows that I needed to catch up on. It was like heaven for me to fully relax the whole day. I also had a great day today, the sermon at church was so great and songs were good.
I have several one-day plans for the official spring break. Since I will spend a lot of money for my upcoming trips this summer, I decided not to go on a trip for spring break this time. Instead, I will go to Hollywood and K-town tomorrow with friends as one of my plans. I will go to the beach, universal studios, and eat Korean barbeque with friends (These are my one-day plans). Other than these, I will probably do assignments, read books and study for exams coming right after spring break.
We have been dying for this, haven’t we? Hopefully you have great plans that can make your stress go away. Have a wonderful spring break.

Culture Shock!

In my house, there are three international students living together with a host family. Last week, we welcomed one more guy from Kuwait, his name is Abdullatif. So now there are a total of four students from Taiwan, China, Kuwait and Korea(me). He told us about his life in Kuwait, he explained that he had two maids, one driver and one cook working for his family. He said that he never did laundry, prepared breakfast or cleaned his room because of these people living with and working for him and his family. I thought his family was extremely well off, but he actually said that this is very normal in the Middle East. I couldn’t believe it because it sounded so different than our lives in both America and Korea. He said that the government offers a new house for free to a newly married couple in Kuwait! Oh my gosh, isn’t that awesome? My host mom and I at the same time said, “I want to go live there!” One of my host mom’s acquaintances that is also from the Middle East said exactly the same thing. She said that she never did any of the above and that she has a driver, maids and a cook in her house as well.

My Chinese housemate, after hearing that, complained about her life, having to do all of her laundry herself and driving to work on her own. Abdullatif even added that in Kuwait, it usually costs $21 to completely fill up a Chevy Tahoe, which costs about $80 here in America. Then my host mom said, “Would you please cut down the price for oil a little bit when you go back to your country?” and he said, “sure!”
My gosh! I love talking to other people and learning another culture! Doesn’t it sound interesting to you? It was so enjoyable for me! I would love to visit the Middle East someday and see if this is all true! I can’t believe it yet.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Last year when we had the clothesline project and I decided that I would make a t-shirt for some of my family members. There are some people in my family that have gone through some very traumatic experiences throughout their lives. I believe the clothesline project is such a good chance for people to get their voice out there and maybe offer them some sort of closure to the life that they had to overcome. It gives people a voice and that is something they probably never had. I did not get a chance to make it out to the quad this year for the project but these are pictures of the shirt I made with the help from a friend. It is a very touchy subject for me, like it is for most, but I feel that it is good to get the awareness out there. I think the clothesline project is very good and that if it continues to be a part of something that goes on at Fullerton, it could help stop or lower the sexual assaults that go on everyday. I know a lot of this is about what I think but I want to hear from others. What do you think about the clothesline project? It is beneficial? Do you think that it helps others?

Lately I have I realized how important my friends really are in life. I feel that I would not be able to get through half the things I do without my friends. We all have our own opinions and we know that we can feel free to share those opinions with each other when we need to or when a person asks for advice.

I was looking around online, searching for poems that expressed how I really feel about my friends and the friendships that I have with them. To me this poem is the epitome of how I feel about all the friends I have in my life. They mean the world to me and have been there for me like I have been for them. I really do not have just friends that I talk to occasionally, I have best friends. All of my friends are my best friends. I can tell them anything and they can tell me anything. I know that I have made it clear to them that they can feel free to express themselves to me and they have done the same in return. Sometimes I forget how truly blessed I am to have such great friends and this is a tribute to them. I want all of my friends both old and new to know how much I appreciate them and love them!! I would not make it every day with the struggles I have in my life without them. Thanks to everyone that has been there for me and I will continue to be there for all of you!

How's your day going?

I’ve complained about the pressure of assignments and exams that I have had even though every student is in the same situation.
After I realized it, I received an email about just how blessed I am. I think God told me so.

What do you think of the people in these pictures?
(In retrospect, my day is going pretty good!)
I felt sorry but more importantly, I realized I was very immature and blessed. I always know that I am blessed but I often forget it. After I looked at these pictures, I felt like I have been very thankful for what I have, where I am and whom I am with. Everything we have is definitely a blessing, and I don’t want you to forget it like I did the past few weeks.

April fool's day

Did you trick some people? I didn't. I used to do it a lot, but as I have grown up, I don’t feel it’s funny anymore. Well to clarify, it still IS funny but not worth planning for a long time to trick others for a moment. In Korea, we also have the same day. I think people in Korea take advantage of April fool’s day more than Americans do here. It’s because I haven’t really seen people trick others by planning for a long time, which means my friends and I used to plan to trick others for a few days. We were nuts and loved doing such things. I think I already talked about what my friends and I did in high school to trick one of our teachers last year here on the blog. I won’t repeat it, but just saying it was pretty funny.

I honestly didn’t even know it was April 1st this Friday. I went to the library in the morning and stayed there till 4, the time when the library closes on Fridays. There was a bunch of people that were dressed up for an event or something. For sure, something special and fun was going to happen on campus. I didn’t know what though. While I was studying in the library, I could hear all those kids outside screaming and yelling at each other and some music going on. First, it was hard to concentrate but it was okay after awhile.

I got back home after a couple of hours of studying. Since it was roasting outside at that time, I perspired a lot on the way home. My makeup was all messed and how I looked was just terrible haha. But I had a great day on April Fool’s day just seeing a ton of kids singing and having fun on campus. All of sudden, I miss being with my friends in Korea!

This week has been filled with so much excitement. Not all was good excitement but for the most part it was. On Wednesday, after my water polo practice one of my teammates stepped on a bee and she just happens to be allergic to bees. One of my other teammates had to inject some medicine into her leg so she would not blow up like a balloon. Also, my coach and I had to drive her and her car to Downey so she could go to the hospital. It was a crazy night and I did not end up getting home until about three hours after my practice was over. It was such a long night!

On Thursday, I went to the Dodger's opening day. It was so much fun. It was the first time that I have ever been to a Dodger game. I think that it was a great time with great people and I cannot wait to do it again! I have already made plans to go to another game. The funny thing is I like the Angels more but it was still a great game.

Friday was such a good but long day. I had an eight hour preventing sexual harassment class. I was pretty much falling asleep the whole time in the beginning but after the first hour it was good. It was so fun and the professor was great. After class I had a water polo game against Hartwick University from New York and it was so great. I realized how out of shape I really am but I still kept up with them. I scored five points that game. It was cool because they are a division one school and I held my own against them. It was nice to see that even being out of shape I was able to play as good as I did.
